Care Guide

A little care, lasting wear

Thoughtful care helps your favourite pieces stay beautiful for longer. Our collection includes different fabrics, finishes and delicate details, so there is no single cleaning method suitable for every item. Always follow the care label attached to your piece. This guide is general advice and does not replace the item's specific instructions. If the label and product page differ, contact us before cleaning.

Before you clean

Check the care label, fabric composition and any trims or embellishments. Separate colours and close fastenings that could snag fabric. Do not assume a garment is washable simply because another piece in the collection is. If the instructions are missing or unclear, contact us with the product name before washing, ironing or dry cleaning.

Embroidered, lace and embellished clothing

Handle embroidery, beads, sequins, fringe and three-dimensional floral details gently. Avoid pulling loose threads or trims and keep them away from jewellery and rough surfaces that could catch them.

Several of our product listings allow gentle machine washing or hand washing. Use those methods only where your item's care label permits them. For machine-washable pieces, a mesh laundry bag can help reduce snagging. Do not scrub, twist or wring delicate details, and do not apply an iron directly to embellishments.

Silk, silk blends and velvet

Check the label before cleaning: silk blends and velvet finishes can require different methods. Use a specialist cleaner where the label requires professional cleaning. If hand washing is explicitly permitted, handle the garment gently and use a detergent suitable for that fabric. Avoid rubbing, wringing and direct heat. Follow the label's drying and ironing instructions rather than treating these fabrics like everyday cotton.

Wool and cashmere knitwear

Where washing is permitted, use cool water and a detergent suitable for wool or cashmere. Use a wool or delicate machine programme only if the label allows it. Avoid twisting or wringing. Gently reshape and lay flat to dry, away from direct heat. Store knitwear folded rather than hanging to help prevent stretching.

Faux fur

Keep faux fur away from irons, hair dryers, radiators and other high heat sources. Gently detangle the pile with a wide-tooth comb where appropriate, without pulling. Follow the item's label for cleaning, especially where the piece has mixed materials or trims. Where washing is permitted, allow it to air dry naturally; avoid wringing and tumble drying.

Occasionwear and metallic finishes

Delicate finishes may need specialist care. Our Golden Mandarin Collar Evening Gown listing recommends dry cleaning to preserve its metallic finish, hanging storage to maintain its silhouette and avoiding prolonged direct sunlight. Follow the individual instructions for other occasionwear rather than assuming the same method applies.

Everyday fabrics and co-ord sets

For cotton, linen, rayon and polyester blends, follow the label's wash temperature and drying instructions. Fibre content alone is not enough to determine the right cleaning method, particularly for garments with embroidery or decorative trims. Check the top and bottom of a co-ord set separately, as each piece may have its own care requirements.

Belts and decorative phone cases

Avoid soaking belts or decorative phone cases. Use a soft, dry cloth for gentle surface dusting and take particular care around metal details, pearl-style decorations and fabric straps. Remove your phone before cleaning its case. Avoid abrasive cleaners and follow any product-specific cleaning instructions.

Storage and help

Store pieces clean and completely dry, away from prolonged direct sunlight and damp conditions. Fold knitwear and protect delicate embellishments from snagging. If you are unsure how to care for an item, contact us with its product name and a photo of the care label before cleaning.
